Friday 24th
Arrived safely, for a Friday the traffic was not too bad. Nice place this Warner’s Sinah Warren, and the hotel is a warren!! Nicely appointed room with a sea view.
Happy hour was great!! Hic! The food was very nice, shame about the wait, and that was on the first day!
The line-up for this weekend is very good, they are in order of appearance:
New Orleans Heat, John Maddocks Jazzmen, Gambit Jazzmen, Breeze from New Orleans, The Jazzaholics with Baby Jools and the Sussex Jazz Kings. The bands would play a total of four sets each during the weekend.
New Orleans Heat line-up: Steve Graham trumpet, John Scantlebury reeds, David Vickers trombone, Colin Bushell drums, Harry Slater string bass and Barry Grummett piano and leader, and thanked Steve for standing in. His light touch and crystal clear sound was appreciated by all. They play Shine
John Maddocks Jazzmen line-up: Peter Wilkinson trumpet, John Maddocks reeds, Tony Farr trombone, Chris Satterly piano, George Skidmore banjo & guitar, Peter McCurrie double bass & sousaphone, Brian Barker drums. This band consistently produces good quality jazz that is a pleasure to listen or to dance to. They play Bogalusa Strut
