Winter Jazz Party Sand Bay

Baby Jools and the Jazzaholics

Line-up: Denny Ilett, Snr, (tpt), Mike Owen (tmb), John Maddocks (clt), Brian Mellor (bjo), Jim Swinnerton (bs), Baby Jools (dms). Surprise guest singer – Sinead McCabe. They hit the stage running and almost set it alight. THAT was before Sinead McCabe made her appearance. Five songs over 2 sets. There wasn’t a dry eye in the house following her last song, the applause almost brought the roof down. This young lady is going far. We bring you "Dippermouth Blues".

Sinead sang "Doctor Jazz", and then, dedicated to Jimbo Pack and Johnny Rodgers - "Just a Closer Walk with Thee".

Savannah Jazz Band

Line-up: Bill Smith (tpt/vcl), Roger Myerscough (clt/alto), Brian Ellis (tmb), Chris Marney (bjo), Tony Pollitt (bs), John Meehan (dms/ldr). Yet another great performance from the band. The occasional doubling on piano and blues harmonica go down very well. Keeps those feet busy!  Here they play "Walking With The King".

John Maddocks’ Jazzmen

Line-up: John Maddocks (clt/tnr), Peter Wilkinson (tpt), Chris Gower (tmb), George Skidmore (bjo/gtr), Simon Banks (pno), Peter McCurrie (bs/tuba), Brian Barker (dms). Brilliant band, good ensemble, unfaultable solos. They always deliver an exceptional performance.

Here they give us "Georgia Cakewalk".

Not one band is better than the other. They are all good even though their renditions and interpretation may differ.

We have experienced a weekend of wonderful live music from some of the best jazz musicians in the Country. During the weekend over £1000.00 was raised for the Cornwall Air Ambulance in memory of Russell Bennett. Now that can’t be bad can it?
