Friday 15th January – Monday 18th January 2016

Following an uneventful journey, we arrived in good time for our check-in and set-up of cameras.

The following bands are the playing this weekend.

Sussex Jazz Kings  Line-up: Dave Stradwick (cnt), Ian Mcaulay (tmb), Bernie Strutt (clt), Phil Durell (bjo), Peter Clancy (bs), Pete Lay (dms). Haven’t heard this band play since last Summer. They play some really hot jazz which is good for dancing or listening to. We have chosen “Messing Around” to share with you.

Gavin Lee’s New Orleans Jazz Band Line-up: Brian Chester (tmb), Gavin Lee (clt/alto), Ian Wynne (pno), John Robertson (bs), Bill Evans (dms). Toe tapping stuff for those dancers, but also a lovely band to listen to. They go down well with all audiences. We hope you like our choice of “Cannonball Blues”. Unfortunately Gavin tells us that this may be the last performance of the band due to lack of bookings. Come on you jazz club band bookers, this is a band worth booking.

Gambit Jazzmen Line-up: Dennis Armstrong (cnt), Barry Weston (tmb), Goff Dubber (clt/alto), Ray Smith (pno), Andy Maynard (bjo/gtr), Roger Link (bs), Pete Lay (dms). It can’t have been easy for the band this weekend following the sad

news about Johnny Rodgers. They played well and with gusto. The dancers appreciated that.

Hope you like  "That Teasing Rag".

New Orleans Heat  Line-up: John Scantlebury (clt/alto/vcl), Richard Church (tpt), Dave Vickers (tmb),

Alan Birkenhead (bjo), Barry Grummett (pno), Harry Slater (bs), Colin Bushell (dms).

They go from strength to strength, swinging all the way.

There’s no let up for the dancers with this band. The  band play "South".
