November Jazz Parade 2015

Baby Jools and the Jazzaholics – (4 sets) – line-up: Mike Owen (tmb), Denny Ilett (cnt), Chris Tanner (clt/alto), Brian Mellor (bjo), Jim Swinnerton (bs), Baby Jools (dms). If you have heard this this band before, you know what to expect. Hot jazz, dance hall memories, great music, all fronted by the dulcet tones of Mike Owen. We had the pleasure of having Chris Tanner (clt/alto) in the front line. Oh boy, what a player. Where does he get that energy from – and those high notes. Impressive and such a lovely guy. They really rocked. Listen to  "Ory's Creole Trombone"

Gambit All Star Jazzmen – (4 sets) - line-up: Alan Gresty (cnt), Johnny Rodgers (clt/alto), Barry Weston (tmb), Andy Maynard (bjo), Roger Link (bs), Pete Lay (dms). Always a good performance from the Gambit – and always just a little surprise. It was so good to see Johnny Rodgers back on form. He gave us brilliant vocal entertainment with his version of Doctor Jazz, which received a standing ovation. Sorry, this is censored unless Me and Him get permissions!!!!! It was also so  nice to see Catherine and Johnny enjoying themselves on the dance floor. Before I leave this section, just to say that Alan Gresty put in some good solos.

They play"Take Me Back To Old Virginia"

Savannah Jazz Band – (3 sets) – line-up: Bill Smith (cnt), Brian Ellis (tmb), Roger Myerscough (clt), Chris Marney (bjo), Tony Pollett (bs), John Meehan (dms). Another band that we all know and love. Good for dancing and wonderful entertainment. Just so happened that they played at Diana and Pete Smith’s wedding 19 years ago – who were at the Festival this weekend - so they did a reprise. Happy Wedding Anniversary. It was so nice to listen to all the requests. Thank you for mine. Here they play "Darktown Strutters Ball"
