Looking forward to really good weekend of jazz, especially following our arduous journey.
Six bands playing this weekend are, in order of appearance:
Graham Hughes' Sunshine Kings, John Maddocks Jazzmen with guest singer Julia Titus, Gambit Jazzmen, Baby Jools and the Jazzaholics, Hippocampus Jass Gang (from France) and TJ Johnson Band.
Graham Hughes' Sunshine Kings - Line-up: Graham Hughes (tmb), Gabriel Garrick (tpt), David Horniblow (clt/tnr sax), Laurence Corns (gtr), Jay Darwish (double bass), Alessandro Canini (Bubu) (drms). A well established band who play very well together. We like their style and sound. We share with you "I'm Beginning To See The Light", featuring David Horniblow who plays Johnny Rodgers tenor sax. So nice to hear it played again.
John Maddocks Jazzmen with Julia Titus - Line-up: John Maddocks (reeds), Chris Gower (tmb), Peter Wilkinson (tpt), Chris Satterly (pno), Geoff Over (bjo/gtr), Peter McCurrie (double bass/sousaphone), Brian Barker (drms) and singer Julia Titus. A popular band with audiences and dancers alike. On this occasion we have the pleasure to hear Julia Titus sing. An absolutely beautiful voice. Here she sings "Do your Duty".
Gambit Jazzmen - Line-up: - Pete Lay (drms/ldr), Alan Gresty (tpt), Barry Weston (tmb), Goff Dubber (clt), Roger Link (bass), Andy Maynard (bjo). Plenty of hot jazz from this band, they played a blinder this weekend. Just listen to "East Coast Trot".
