Me and Him
Me and Him
11th March 2016 – 14th March 2016
We had a relatively good journey in spite of a little hiccup with directions, but we arrived safely and were pleased to see lots of friends and acquaintances again.
There are seven bands playing this weekend.
Colin Kingwell Jazz Bandits (3 sessions), Sussex Jazz Kings (3 sessions), Dave Rae’s Levee Ramblers (4 sessions), Malc Hurrell’s Jazz Conscripts (3 sessions), Brian Carrick’s Algiers Stompers (4 sessions), Baby Jools and the Jazzaholics (4 sessions) and New Orleans Heat (3 sessions).
Colin Kingwell Jazz Bandits: Line-up: Dave Vickers (tmb) depping for Colin who was unwell, Richard Church (tpt), Ron Rumbol (clt), Dave Fawcett, (bjo), Peter Brooks (bass), Malc Murphy (dms). Everyone missed Colin, especially his shaggy-dog stories. However, Dave did a good job and the band played together well. Get well soon Colin and hope that you enjoy our choice. “Too Busy Fooling Around”.
Sussex Jazz Kings: Line-up: Dave Stradwick (tpt), Ian McAulay (tmb), Bernie Stutt (clt), Peter Clancy (bass), Pete Lay (dms).
A popular, versatile band with plenty of ripping music for the dancers and plenty of classic jazz numbers. We share with you “Perdido Street Blues”.
Dave Rae’s Levee Ramblers: Line-up: Dave Rae (bjo/ldr), Richard Church (tpt), Gavin Lee (clt), Jim Blenkin(tmb), Howard Worthington (bass), Ian Wynne (pno), Kenny Milne (dms). Another popular band on the jazz festival circuit. It is very nice to hear a piano in a jazz band, it gives a band a much richer sound. The audience were treated to some great solos. Our choice is “Cats got Kittens”, with a nice solo from Gavin Lee.
